For whatever reason, there was no Writerly Wednesday prompt last week. I am very happy to have it back as I enjoy the challenge of coming up with a 150 word story.
Here is my flash fiction for the picture prompt this week. If you’d like to try the Writerly Wednesday prompt, just click on the link after the story.
He pulled out the gun hidden inside his jacket. Adrenaline coursed through his veins. He wasn’t new to this game, but until his target was in sight it always reminded him of the first time.
The face he’d studied flashed in front of his eyes as he carefully surveyed the area. There wasn’t much time to get into position, he had to be quick.
The perfect location offered him an unobstructed view of the entrance. He checked his weapon and attached the silencer. He pulled the photograph from his pocket and gave it a final glance.
He exhaled slowly and waited, it was the part he hated. The waiting always led to thinking and thinking made him anxious. He was good and it paid well, but it was risky.
Finally, his target came into view and he switched off his brain. He had to; he was a gun for hire.
