Writerly Wednesday – There is no I in Team

unnamed-38

The game was tied; the tension and excitement among players and fans alike was palpable.  The clock was ticking but no matter which team won, it was clear that both were giving it everything they got.  Both teams deserved The Golden Cup but only one would go home with the prize.

The season had been a tough one for the Grenadiers. They’d started off slow and at the bottom, but each game saw the team coming together. Despite their hardships they slowly climbed to the top.

The Grenadiers saw their chance and as the final seconds ticked away they surpassed the other team with a field goal. The grateful team gathered in the centre of the field. In their jubilation they raised the cup to the late afternoon sky and a solemn silence fell over them.

“For you, Coach Abe.” One voice spoke quietly. “Thanks for making us a team.”
